#NationalAirborneDay on August 16th honors the airborne divisions of the United States Armed Forces. The day commemorates the first official Army parachute jump on August 16, 1940, at Fort Benning, Georgia. Airborne soldiers are trained to deploy via parachute into combat zones, and their bravery and skill have been critical in conflicts from World War II to the present.
